has got worse and worse for customers

the interest rates are so low on nationwide accounts that we stopped using our accounts. We also left them as the mortgage rates weren't favourable to the customer either - it doesn't make sense! Seems like they are on their own side rather than customers side these days. Reviewed on: 6th February 2017

Easy to use online banking

I regularly access my account online to check my balance, pay people, move money between accounts. It is very straightforward to use and feels very secure with the use of the card reader. Reviewed on: 5th February 2017

Nationwide as an everyday building society

Having banked with Nationwide for many years now, I can say that it is excellent to deal with. My particular branch (Hitchin, Hertfordshire) is small, friendly and efficient. Yes, it gets busy on certain days but the Manager always tries to clear the queue asap. The products are clearly displayed - plenty of information in the form of leaflets. Obviously, the staff are encouraged to sell products but they are never pushy. The one time I had a problem with my account (money stolen), it was resolved quickly and the money returned to me. I do not do much online banking, preferring to visit the bank physically in the old fashioned way. However, the online system works well,and seems secure as anything online can be these days. Didn't forfill promises!

I changed my daugher's account and we agreed to transfer £100 per month into her account. Came back 6months later for something else and only then discovered that they never transferred any money into her account! Issue has now been fixed but there shouldn't have been one in the first place.. Reviewed on: 3rd February 2017

Does exactly what it says on the tin.......

The customer service at Nationwide is exceptional. Whenever I have had issues with my current account, they have always been able to help and have given the illusion of being happy to do so! The flex account does exactly what it says on the tin. The interest rate is very good for a current account, charges for overdrafts are not extortionate and it so easy to get money out from cash machines. I know I can earn 'cashback' or other incentives for switching my current account to another back, but honestly, given the service I have received over the last 15 years, I have no desire to move my account.....unless things drastically change of course! Brilliant online service

I've been with Nationwide for several years and really like their online service. You get a card reader that you put your card and pin in which then gives you a code to log on. Then you can literally do what you want with your account, pay people, cancel direct debits, transfer Monet, it's all really simple. There's also a messaging facility which is great and I use it a lot - to notify them when I'm going abroad etc. Reviewed on: 30th January 2017
