Review of the Nationwide, Fixed Rate Mortgage:

Great bank, so no surprise the mortgages are good too

5
Been with Nationwide for accounts and savings and enjoyed it. See my bank account review for them. So when it came to getting a mortgage, it was likely to be Nationwide. They were actually the 3rd cheapest option for us, but we still went with them as we both had good experiences with them. The mortgage allows overpayments, a choice of how it's processed, and only takes £500 to trigger (much less than a previous mortgage I had). They also base the overpay limit on the original mortgage value, not the current; allowing you to pay more without hitting a penalty. Reviewed on: 7th September 2024

Have renewed our Mortgage with a long term fixed rate we were very happy with. Everything went smoothly and couldn't have been easier. Would highly recommend Nationwide to friends & family Reviewed on: 14th February 2016

Decent mortgage company

I had an overall good mortgage experience as a first-time buyer with Nationwide. The approval time was quick and everything was seamless when it came to setting the mortgage up. Their fixed rate deals were among the best on the market at the time, and they will also offer generous mortgage to income ratio if that's what you're looking for. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Very good mortgage service provider

I searched for several mortgage offers and found only Nationwide provided me the useful advice on my mortgaga applications. Unlike other big players such as HSBC, Barclays, etc. Nationwide offerred me their service with high professional knowledge. So I like to recommend Nationwide to my friends when they consider to apply their mortgages. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Great deal, great service...thank you

I'm writing this review to say thank you to Nationwide for such amazing service. Getting the right rate is important, but I'd always look at Nationwide in the future for any other mortgages I may need. Reviewed on: 7th October 2015

Hassle free remortgaging.

5
Our previous 2 year fixed rate with Nationwide was due to come to an end. After looking around the best deal was actually to remortgage with Nationwide. The process was really easy and straightforward, no having to go through affordability measures as being a customer already they knew we could afford a cheaper rate! Contacted them a month after the start of the new 2 year fixed and asked to set the account up to make overpayments and again this was easily done with 1 telephone call. Was so stress free compared to previous remortgages with other companies. Reviewed on: 10th August 2015

Simple and carefully explained

5
My review is about how simple it was to apply for a mortgage with Nationwide. The process took around 4 weeks (I think) and was well explained to me throughout by my advisor. I am now the proud owner of my first home. Thank you Nationwide! Reviewed on: 10th June 2015

Happy customer

I've been a happy Nationwide customer for a while now. I looked at a few mortgages, but chose to stick with Nationwide due to the good customer service I have experienced with them. Reviewed on: 18th May 2015

Very long wait for anything to happen...

3
Having recently applied for a fixed rate mortgage at Nationwide, I can say that I have mixed feelings about the experience. We had some difficulty initially getting an appointment but were assured things would moved quickly from them on. However, our application did not submit electronically and that marked the beginning of a long 3 week wait whilst everything was submitted manually. Once all this had happened, however, the decision was then made very quickly and there were few other issues. Reviewed on: 22nd April 2015

from the beginning they didn't take me seriously

1
As a first time buyer I was looking to get a mortgage and some advice. I went into a branch and was told it would be better to go online than speak to someone. After letting them know I would be more comfortable discussing with someone (as I had been offered in other banks) they begrudgingly booked me an appointment. On the day of the appointment I was phoned up and the meeting cancelled and was just told to go online and use a calculator which was not what I wanted at all but after feeling this resistance decided to not bother and go elsewhere.
