Review of the Petplan, Pet Insurance:

My claim experience

Pet insurance is the insurance you have and hope you never have to claim on, this is my experience of the claim process. We had never insured any of the other pets, but with the changing climate and the costs involved we joined the PetPlan family. What had initially drawn us to the policy was that if you had an ongoing incident than this was covered, there was not a 12 month limit, or 3k limit, one day our policy came to rescue us in more ways than one. Our dog had got been out in the garden and came in collasped and could not walk, he is a Springer Spaniel, so an emergency visit to our Vet, who her 1st real question was are you insured, Yes, good, we can't treat him here, he needs to see a specialist. The vet duly arranged this for us, and a hours drive, we were at a private hospital. The dog was seen by a specialist, he was then referred for a mri scan, the results of this showed he had fractured the bone at the base of the spine and this had fragmented into his spinal cord, which was causing the paraylsis. We were given mediciation and asked to return a week later, to see what the outcome was, worst case we were going to lose him, it was a week of tears, cuddles, tender-hooks, cancelling a holiday. I am pleased to say at the next consultation we were given the good news that the dog was on the mend and we were discharged. I have to say how helpful everyone at PetPlan was, from the initial contact, the telephone calls from myself, from queries, to cancelling the holiday, for which was under the insurance claim, PetPlan handled everything for us, all we had to do was pay the intial depoist to the vets, and Pet Plan took care of everything. At the time we paid £60, our Vets bill, the private animal hospital fees and cancellation of the holiday, came it at nearly £3k. I am ever grateful to petplan for everything they did, it is like all insurances, you hope you never need them, but when you do you want them to be there and Petplan are. Affordable 5 star cover

My cat Sooty had a couple of accidents when she was a young cat and she was expertly looked after by Harbour Vets in Portsmouth and Archway Vets in Petersfield and knowing that she was covered by Petplan took a lot of the worry out of what was a very stressful time. Been with petplan 29yrs best pet insurance around .

Would recommend petplan life insurance. 29yrs ive been with them and have always had good service .Knowing my cats are covered for illnesses and conditions for life .My policies are automatically renewed and having my petplan its so easy to track claims and down load policies etc .I find petplan good value and excellent service . Expensive and doesn't value loyal customers

Got a quote for 2 new puppies. Have an adult with Pet plan already. Was too expensive so waited about 3 weeks to next pay day went back for another quote and it had gone up £7 Which I thought was a bit much so haven't taken up looking elsewhere. When I queried was told was their best price. I have insured several dogs over last 20 years and never claimed customer service and rewards for loyalty not given so time to ditch and look elsewhere.
