I am a customer and veterinary professional so I have dealt with Petplan from both sides. Very good company, always fair and quick to pay claims, they cost a bit more per month but you get what you pay for. Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

I have had Petplan for years and they have always been brilliant. The claiming process is easy and fairly quick. My only issue is that you can't negotiate the price, however, the insurance is well worth it. Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

PetPlan - best in class

With our two cats recently we had to make use of our insurance for some important procedures. The referrals and pre-approvals were all done for us due to the process already in place between our chosen vets and the insurers. If we weren’t with PetPlan, we would have had to undertake a lot of communication and negotiation ourselves, which would have been very burdensome given the emotional side of sending our pets in for tests and procedures. Everything was taken care for us quickly, efficiently and with lots of compassion and care. I’d recommend anyone with a pet to get a policy with PetPlan, Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

Game Over When You Take Out PetPlan Insurance

Once your on the PetPlan’s insurance and your dog develops a condition of hays it your snookered going elsewhere as all pet insurance has a no cover for previous or known issues. PetPlan’s will then continue to hike your policy costs exponentially and astronomically. We go abroad with our dog once a year and they always say to wait till we get back to the UK to claim, meaning we are out of pocket for at least 3 months, they will then argue the toss about each and every item and about the way the receipt is put together even when we also provide the individual card receipts to back our claims up. We are currently paying £112 a month for a 12 year old dog that has spent even less time in the vets for the past 2 years, in fact he’s only been in for his vaccinations so I feel this company punished you consistently for pre-existing conditions even when you are not claiming for them! Excellent cover for epileptic dog

My dog has been with Petplan since we had her as an 8 month old rescue. She developed epilepsy around age 3 and Petplan have been amazing at covering all the related costs for diagnosis and ongoing treatment. They always pay claims promptly without any hassle. Insured my dog for her whole 17 years

Insured my dog for her whole 17+ years of life. Paid thousands of £s in claims due to her eye problems and never queried a claim - paid vet direct every time except after a claim in France, which they settled quickly. Reviewed on: 29th August 2025

I’ve been with Petplan for decades -I won’t shop around.They are reliable and quick.Something I needed last year when my beautiful boy had a brain tumour.I didn’t need to worry about trying to provide the very best treatment available for him and thanks to them I gained some precious time .I even got a bouquet of flowers on my 60th birthday!
