A very dishonest society

I purchased the windfall bond from Family Building Society as I liked the chance of winning a cash prize, what Family Building Society never told their customers is that each month they would enter blank tickets into the draw meaning if a black ticket was picked out, no member would win a cash prize. I spoke to a staff member to ask how ofter did blank tickets get drawn to be told quite often, this shocked me and I question the legality of this dishonest behaviour. I was so shocked that I purchased a £10,000 premium bond instead. Also what angers me about Family Building Society is that each year they send out a customer questionnaire asking for our thoughts, each time I receive this I make it clear I dislike being called Mr and prefer to be called by my first name. How difficult can it be for Family Building Society to train their staff to ask customers how they wish to be addressed and not presume that everyone wants a title forced upon them. I received a letter recently stating that they will now be paying interest less than the bank of Englands pathetic 4.75% On my questionnaire I stated that Family Building Society interest rates were appalling and they should set the example and introduce 10% bonds. They need me running their society. My advice to you is DO NOT open an account with Family Building Society they are by far one of the worst Building Societies out there today. Neglecting savers and encouraging borrowing. A very irresponsible way to behave. Shame on you Family Building Society your customers deserve better. Reviewed on: 8th February 2025

Do Not Give Them Your Business

Purchased a windfall bond with the chance of winning a cash prize, however what Family Building Socioty do not tell you is that they were entering blank tickets into the draw meaning no customer won a cash prize, a very dishonest society one to defenetly avoid. Reviewed on: 7th February 2025

Luke was very friendly and professional whilst talking us through the steps of transferring funds into a Family Building Society bond. The staff both in branch and on the telepohne are very helpful, patient and knowledgeable. It would however, be a great advantage to be able to see your password as you type it so that you could spot errors and rectify them. It can be time consuming if you have made an error e.g. typed a capital letter by mistake but you do not know what the error is. The savings rates are however very competitive and hard to beat!
