Higher interest rate but reminders are good

Sinc I last had a credit card, things have changed a fair bit - now everything can be done online of course. Capital One has its own app and you can get email and text alerts which really do help make sure you pay on time. No issues so far. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Brilliant Experience for a First Credit Card!

I've held my Capital One credit card for just over a year and have never had a problem. I like that you can set up email or text alerts to let you know when you are getting close to your limit and if you have gone beyond it. It means that it's so much easier to keep track of how much you're spending and how much you have left to spend. I also really like the secure messaging facility. I'm unable to use the phone due to a disability and this makes it so much easier for me to get in touch with Capital One and also, because it's the messaging service direct from your account, you don't need to type out all of your details because they have them all already. I have always found the Capital One customer service to be really good and my messages are usually replied with within 24 hours. The advisers are also very helpful. This is my first credit card and so far I am very happy with my experience of this company. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Excellent service over 15 years

I have had a Capital One credit card for 15 years and have nothing but praise for the service. When an online accommodation company went bust I got my money back from Capital One, the whole process was very quick and painless. I have also benefitted from cashback so I have no hesitation in recommending Capital One. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Poor experience with Capital One

Now the card itself was alright, no complaints with regards to payment limits etc. but when I wanted to change my address, boy did I have a job! In total, I spent almost three hours on hold (yes, I did time it! That's how bored I was!) over the course of three days trying to change my details. I really don't know why they were incapable of either answering the phone or putting me through to the correct department but I paid the balance shortly afterwards and cancelled my card. If they can't even manage a simple request like this, I dread to think how they are treating our personal data. So whilst I appreciate that this is more of a rant than a review, there are more cards of this ilk around these days, offering similar interest rates and I feel sure that they would offer a far superior service. No issues usually

This is our 2nd choice credit card if our first one is not accepted by the merchants. Usually, there is no issues and we do use it regularly. It has a competitive rate but overall it isn't really rewarding in general. We might stop using it soon. Reviewed on: 25th August 2015

Offered secured version of this card.

I applied for this card, knowing that my credit history was poor, at best, and suprisingly, I was offered the 'secured' version. Capital one requested a £99 deposit, and they would then give me a card with a £200 limit. Absolutely great for building up my credit history, and correcting the mistakes made as a young 'un. I've recently found out that my APR is a decently low 30% on this card, too, which is miles better than my Vanquis card, at, i'd estimate, 50%. Great card, great customer service. Reversed charges when I called to explain

I unfortunately got into some financial difficulty recently as my employer switched banks and we didn't get paid! this led me to missing a payment on my card. I called Capital One and when I explained the circumstances they reversed the charges. it was such a relief and they lady I spoke to was ever so helpful. Reviewed on: 21st August 2015

Excellent customer service

I took out the 0% for 18 months deal with Capital One to save on interest on an existing credit card and was very happy with the initial set up fee. It was easy and quick with a great online account. I had made a payment and due to my misjudgement of when the payment would clear, I was one day late for the payment. On my next statement I noticed that interest had been applied so rang Capital One to see if there was anything I could do about this. They took note of my account and the fact that the pay,net was just a day late and reverted my account to the original deal. They took off the interest and the late payment fee and left me feeling very satisfied. Reviewed on: 10th August 2015

Standard, could be better.

The interest is high but it works as a good card to improve your credit limit On. I've had to contact them before and the person on the other end of the phone was very helpful and friendly. Reviewed on: 24th April 2015
