If you look at my previous review, I didn’t state that I held onto the dollars we had purchased from them because at the last minute we were able to book a short notice a trip to the Caribbean where I thought some of the US dollars would come in useful. Why redeem them and then buy more back? That would just be a few tile bureaucratic exercise. I thought I would just redeem what I didn’t use under the terms of our original agreement that they would redeem the dollars at the original exchange rate. On returning, I contacted M&S who refused my request stating that because I used some of the dollars on another holiday this invalidated any agreement we had for the redemption of the money. Because of this I’ve lost over £70. When I discussed it with him, they said the financial ombudsman wouldn’t be able to help me because M&S money is unregulated for the purposes of that form of recourse. I’m still pursuing this quietly even though the time taken to recover 70 odd pounds exceeds the value of this claim-it’s the principal. In my case, I believe M&S Travel Money services have got no morals or decency. I’ve stopped using the shop. So, now would I recommend them? Well, consider this. I had terrible trouble getting the card set up in the first place and have written a letter describing it, then today I went into... I had terrible trouble getting the card set up in the first place and have written a letter describing it, then today I went into an Asda store and the card was declined contactless, then when I put in the pin it was still declined. I was in a long queue and had everyone behind me having to wait and it was most embarrassing. Have now telephoned M & S Bank and was told that for no reason the card was declined and now I have to go to an ATM and valid the pin there but as I am disabled I need to wait for a lift, most inconvenient.
