Received a great service from start to finish, received great knowledge from Lois regarding EURO rates, my order ready and packaged in perfect denominations from Aaron and then super customer service on collection from Karen. I travelled with a large group of women after discussion I had the best experience and received the best exchange rate with M&S. A few of the ladies had been to Tesco bureau and did not have or receive the same experience, instead very unhelpful. Reviewed on: 29th September 2026

Moral & trustworthy? You judge..

I wrote a glowing review about their service early in March. How wrong I was. If you look at my previous review, I didn’t state that I held onto the dollars we had purchased from them because at the last minute we were able to book a short notice a trip to the Caribbean where I thought some of the US dollars would come in useful. Why redeem them and then buy more back? That would just be a few tile bureaucratic exercise. I thought I would just redeem what I didn’t use under the terms of our original agreement that they would redeem the dollars at the original exchange rate. On returning, I contacted M&S who refused my request stating that because I used some of the dollars on another holiday this invalidated any agreement we had for the redemption of the money. Because of this I’ve lost over £70. When I discussed it with him, they said the financial ombudsman wouldn’t be able to help me because M&S money is unregulated for the purposes of that form of recourse. I’m still pursuing this quietly even though the time taken to recover 70 odd pounds exceeds the value of this claim-it’s the principal. In my case, I believe M&S Travel Money services have got no morals or decency. I’ve stopped using the shop. So, now would I recommend them? Well, consider this. Travel Money dispute

I bought Vietnamese dong, Thai Bhat & US Dollars for a holiday which was cancelled because of Mr. Trump’s adventures in Iran. I redeemed the currency with M&S Bank, and was delighted when they said because the cancellation was not my fault, and as long as I provided evidence, they would redeem my currency at the rate at which it was purchased. So far so good. I exchanged the money at the redemption rate and customer services redeemed the balance - I did this for the Bhat & the Dong, but held onto the dollars because at short notice we managed to book a short trip where dollars were the currency. I advised M&S Bank by email that rather than redeem all the dollars and then purchase new ones, it made sense for me to hold onto them for another week and then redeem what I didn’t use as per the agreement/contract I thought I had with them. Imagine my shock and anger when they said that the redemption for the dollars no longer applied because I’d used some of them on this other holiday. I petitioned their CEO - no reply - and the CEO of the main M&S who referred me back to customer services who flatly refused to honour the original agreement, saying me using 170 of the 800 dollars invalidated the original agreement. Under no circumstances was this explained to me , even after I’d emailed them to say this is what I’d be doing. What they did went against the spirit of our agreement. I am pursuing this through other avenues. I won’t use/trust M&S Bank money again. Hays Travel are more ethical & customer friendly. And I - a customer at Fosse Park - won’t spend a penny in their store till I get justice. Reviewed on: 5th May 2026

From 5 stars to zero - justified.

After giving five stars for allowing us to return our Vietnamese and Cambodian money at the prevailing rates, when I try to do this with dollars I purchased for the same holiday, they refused because I had used some of it on another holiday to try and save them an administrative burden. Their intransigence and lack of customer care means that they have lost not only an M&S bank customer, but I will not be shopping there in future. Reviewed on: 1st May 2026

Returning unused currency

We bought currency for a holiday in Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam which didn’t occur because of Trump’s War. We expected to get a poor rate for returning money but M&S were great. They recommended we contact their team & explain our situation. They paid us back what we had paid out so we lost nothing. Great customer service Reviewed on: 7th March 2026

Minimum £150 spend on currency not mentioned

I wanted to buy 130usd on line and collect at local branch -when I entered the amount response was minimum 200usd . I queried at the branch and they suggested rung customer service . It was only then that I was informed there is a minimum £150 spend . It would be do easy for M&S to put this on their first page , rather than telling customers it is ‘fuss free’ . Very Disappointed.

Very Disappointed. Would Not Recommend I ordered Singapore Dollars and Indonesian Rupiah online through the M&S preferential rate service a week before my trip. I received a confirmation email with the date, time, and specific store location for collection. When I arrived at the store, the manager informed me they did not have the currency. Rather than offering a solution, I was told I’d have to check other stores myself to find it, incredibly unhelpful and unacceptable given I had a confirmed order. As a result, I had to travel abroad without any local currency, which caused unnecessary stress at the start of my trip. To make matters worse, I submitted a formal complaint, and M&S have yet to respond. This lack of accountability and poor customer service was very disappointing. Best rate but high denomination notes

Best rate for Euros click and collect in store. Unfortunately €200 of the €500 are €50 notes, which from past experience are sometimes refused and often looked on with suspicion. Won't be using M&S online again. Reviewed on: 8th March 2025

Self service currency exchange

Just used crazy new self service currency exchange system. What a appalling system huge screens that allow everyone to see your details. Then still have to queue to see a customer service person who can deal with the currency ordered Reviewed on: 3rd July 2023
