Took 3 days to recover my car, incurred a parking fine as result of this. I had to instigate communication as recieved very little from M&S, their underwriter and accident repair. Waited 2 weeks to be advised that my car is a write off. Have made numerous complaints and feel as if I have wasted my time. Not even a manager was free to speak with me. No communication at all, so I wouldn't bother to attempt to choose M&S as your preferred insurer as they do not seem to take any responsibility.

I am 65 years old with a good clean driving history. I changed my car last year and was concerned about the premium. I decided to stay with M&S for the year. To my astonishment my renewal shows an increase of £38 approx. Why I ask. I contacted the call centre and was told there was no movement on the price. Normally there is flexibility on the commission. This seems to be a case of profiteering by the administrators. I went online and got a policy £160 cheaper for the same cover-unbelievable. I will be very careful when using M&S in the future if at all.

I got a renewal quote from M & S for my car insurance and it was as high as i have never seen it before. I knew i couldn't pay all that as i have never claimed and Gosh have i been driving for long. Got 20 quotes twice as cheap and i didn't hesitate to change. My issue with them is that even when customers don't actually want to change insurance providers you are forced to because M&S basically don't do price matching so i pity people who don't look at their quotes and their premiums auto renew. So with that, they will be the last on my list to ever consider. All the best.

worse experience ever in over 37 years of insuring my car insurance.
changed my car the first 5 months of policy so took private plate off at a cost of £25 admin charge then was told i would be charged another £25 when changing my car in just over a week then if i wanted to put my private plate on car it would be another £25 a total of £75 ,but to add to the insult the monthly payments would go up by £31 pound.
I am a 57 year old woman with full no claims for over 17 yrs
have no car convictions or any speeding points in short wouldnt ever buy any insurance from this company .

Terrible customer service

Lack of communication when I rang about my car breakdown, staff appear to not be bothered at all. Blame shift to other department and not taking responsibility on behalf of the company. Worst service I`ve received ever.

So, it took me all morning to cancel my previous policy (competition 25% cheaper) because there is no telephone no. and it all has to be done in a roundabout way on-line.
Received an email saying that my policy had been cancelled.
Then, 7 days later my car renewal documents come through in the post.
I don't know now if my policy is cancelled or not so have to go through the entire tedious process again.
Please don't put yourself through all the stress I've been through, avoid at all costs.

1) M&S are now behaving like other companies and 'rewarding' loyalty with price hikes.
2) I am deaf and cannot teleophone them but most of the functions are not available on their website and there is no chatline facility. At about 10:00am today (5/10/20) they took their website down for maintenance so even that is not available - no warning or explanation they just pulled the plug!

M&S Car insurance certainly know how to avoid customer service.

Avoid at all costs.

How tiresome of these big high street stores to jump on every bandwagon from utilities to vehicle insurance. M&S just quoted me £300 above what I've been paying other insurance companies for the last 3 years!
They need to get a grip and use fair decent insurance subcontractors to give a fair and true value. A great company mismanaged, sliding down the ladder to oblivion. I don't even buy my shirts from them anymore. Used them all my adult life, 69 now and I can not remember the last time I went into one of their stores.

How tiresome of these big high street stores to jump on every bandwagon from utilities to vehicle insurance. M&S just quoted me £300 above what I've been paying other insurance companies for the last 3 years!

My call was escalated to complaints dept where I was informed by FAYE SHERATON that there was nothing they could do to help! Really? I WASN'T ASKING FOR A FREEBIE, JUST TEMPORARY INSURANCE FROM A COMPANY THAT I ALREADY HAD INSURANCE with. Unhelpful, discourteous staff. Once a so called pillar of the community, M&s has forgotten what it stood for, has no integrity or after sales and wants to fleece you. DISGRACEFUL!! I give them a ONE because ZERO was not on the choice option. SHAME ON YOU MARKS AND SPENCER!!

I tried to place an order for click and collect travel money last week, at the end of the process I got an error message saying the transaction has not gone through please try again. I tried for a second time and got the same message. I went into M&S Bureau de change in Milton Keynes and was promptly told it's nothing to do with them I need to contact click and collect. I called click and collect whom told me they have no record of any orders and nothing has transacted there end. OK, no problem, a little disgruntled I thought I'd go elsewhere for my travel money. I went to purchase the money elsewhere and was told my card has been declined, odd i think as the money is 100% in my account. I then call my bank whom were extremely helpful, to my utter shock M&S had taken two payments from my account equating to total of £3400! It transpires that whilst an order was never generated by M&S they had still transacted the payments from my account. This money is sitting in an M&S holding account and has been since last Thursday. My bank are unable to raise a dispute due to the monies being in the M&S holding account, a dispute can only be raised once the merchant has completed the transaction (even though the money has been debited from account). I spent 2 hours on the phone to M&S travel Money whom said because there has been no order placed they cannot do anything and I need to wait 3-5 working days for M&S to release my money back to me once the they realise there is no order that matches those transactions. I provided M&S with the date, exact time of said transactions, exact amounts and the authorisation numbers, yet still they are unable to give me my money back! So, to make it clear, they have taken money from me without an order being placed. I'm now incurring charges through my bank because I have had to borrow money to enable me to get my travel money, I have had to take time off work to sort all this out and I'm experience significant financial hardship! Who wouldn't after having that money taken. The money as of today still remains in the M&S holding account and M&S not accepting any responsibility of providing anyway of getting it back. Nice little earner for M&S, keeping peoples money in there holding account earning interest on money that isn't theirs.

I insured my car with them after selecting from a car comparison website. I was given a quote and took their cover. 2 months into the cover i was sent a letter saying I had failed to disclose a claim from almost 5 years ago and as a result they were increasing my premium by £70. I have not made any claim on my insurance or had any claim against me in the past 35 years. But they say they have found an entry on a claims database that says i made a "no fault claim" in 2014. Its odd how none of my 4 other insurers since then have found or are making such a statement. I'm cancelling and going elsewhere - awful service

Be wary about buying an M&S Car insurance , as i received a renewal quote from them for 700+£ & i just requested for an address change , that doubled the insurance to 1500+ £ , whereas i got offers for the same address from other vendors with the original offer price of 700+£, what the hell on this Earth could fire up your insurance quote to double just for an address change ; unless M&S customer support reps are trained to cheat on their existing customers. Very bad experience with M&S customer support .

My fist ever claim after 14 years of driving, and it had to be with them!
Similarly to other reviews the initial contact was good, I was assigned a personal claim assistant and I hopped for the best. Sadly Zenith the underwriter don't care at all ( missed appointments, replacement car not delivered etc) When complained to M&S, they said it nothing to do I should complained to the garage and the insurer. Spent hours on the phone to arrange a repair, shocking lack of customer service. After a month my car in finally in for repairs. Shame on you all, will never buy again!

The first call I made to them to make the claim was great, but it all went downhill from there on. They contract the claim processing out to a company called IMS, who valued my car without even looking at it. It took weeks of negotiating with them to get the actual value of the car according to the valuing companies that they use, they didn't know what it should be because they hadn't even seen a picture of my car. When I complained to M+S, it took them two months to to get back to me, by which time I had already sorted it out myself.
I always pay a premium for insurance because I know that some of the cheaper ones can be difficult if you do have to make a claim, but in this instance the extra money was a complete waste and I'm sure I would have received far better service from cheaper providers.

Found that an elderly aunt was still having her direct debits taken nearly a year after she wrote to them and cancelled. Refunded only 50% and guy didn’t have a clue ! Result is that we are going to small claims court where if nothing else they can explain why it is nessessary for them to STEAL from an 84 year old woman
