M&S Bank - Marks and Spencer Car insurance reviews (96)

Review of the M&S Bank - Marks and Spencer, Car insurance:

Prices scandalous

1
We have been with them for car insurance for 13 years without one claim but this year they want to put it up by over £200 and I have phoned around and got prices at 40 per cent less than their quote. So much for customer care Reviewed on: 2nd August 2018

Terrible experience

2
My car was unattended and parked in hit by another car. The insurance is fully outsourced - empty shell. You will have to deal with 3 or 4 third party service providers who will do what they can to minimize obligations under the policy. There is a suggestion that they will authorize fixing my car in a few weeks time. And I have premium insurance with all the extras. Big mistake l! Again be warned not a real insurance and they will do what they can to avoid coverage. Reviewed on: 13th December 2016

Had someone run into me. I did not claim - but lost my no claims!!

1
First i found out about this was when offered a renewal! They had let the offending driver claim on my policy without telling me! I end up with a claim on my policy damaging my no-claim bonus. Very odd company and certainly one I will never trust again. Reviewed on: 7th November 2016

Safety Feature costs £600 additional insurance premium

I got a quote for a new vehicle, total per month was going to be £40 inc protected no claims (they added £2 per month for this, even though I had asked for it in the comparison website). I said that we were going to have a tow bar fitted and also a rear parking camera (although the vehicle already had parking sensors). Both were to be fitted by the dealer. The monthly premium went up to £91 per month. How on earth can they justify that? I was so angry I hung up on them. Needless to say I didn't take up their rip off offer. M&S; You should be ashamed to put your name to this.

I renewed my M&S car insurance 3 weeks prior to the policy expiring and four days later I was involved in a no fault accident. They do say you only find out how good your insurer is after you make a claim and that is completely true. Aegeas, the company who operate Marks & Spencer's car insurance were appalling. They sent no one to recover my vehicle which was not driveable and while my policy includes a 'guaranteed' courtesy car, full RAC breakdown (highest level) and legal assistance I was still left to organise everything for myself. I was stranded ( I am female) with my car in a not very good location for over three hours, then they just closed the office at 5pm. I ended up calling an accident management company Collision Solutions who have been absolutely FANTASTIC. They recovered my vehicle immediately and left me with a brand new Mercedes so I could get home again. Worst of all, I had already renewed my cover and paid the annual premium up front.... the service and product are both shoddy and second rate. I am stunned that a company like Marks and Spencer partner with Aegeas. Very disappointed. Reviewed on: 22nd October 2016

AWFUL CAR INSURANCE PROVIDER

1
I do not recommend M&S car insurance to ANYONE. They are a rip off, poor customer service, Over charging bunch of con artists. Every opportunity they can they will charge you money. I've changed my address x2 and my surname and been charge for the privilege. I let them know for notification purposes that I scuffed someones car in a car park, they put it down as a claim and it took me till my renewal to see that they had made the error when there was a huge price hike in my renewal. It took me 2/3 weeks to sort out that it wasn't a claim, I spoke to 10+ people and they were all unhelpful. I am waiting for my policy to renew and I am certainly not going with them EVER AGAIN! If I left early they would also charge me £50!!!! THEY ARE A JOKE!! DO NOT USE Reviewed on: 15th September 2016

Efficient Claim with extra Help

Someone reversed into my car making it a right off. M&S insurance assisted me in every level and when the 3rd party delivered me a small hire car, M&S were straight away involved in arranging a different car that was more suitable for my needs Reviewed on: 11th September 2016

Falls way short of the mark when needed, buyer beware!

1
Very poor customer service and product knowledge by what we thought was a reputable company. After a non fault accident (we were not even in the car) and the gent who was reponsible admited liability on the phone to his own insurer. Great we thought, this should be dealt with promptly. We were wrong, a very small scuff that needed mended took nearly 4 weeks before the garage even got the car. The point of contention was that my car needed to be repaired by the manafacturers approved repair centre to maintain my paint and anti corrosion warranties and as far as m&s were concerned they could not care less. They certainly did not make any attempt to fight my corner or resolve the issue, it became a blame game and if it wasn't the underwriters fault ( whom we contacted and told they knew nothing about it) then it was the other insurance company and then it was enterprise who they use in the event of non fault accident, then it was a company called IMS who I don't even know who they are. As you can see we were being given the run around, M&S had absolutely no control over this minor incident whatsoever, thank God it wasn't more serious because I have lost all faith that they are competant to supply trustworthy insurance policies. At one point I had a manager threatening me of a loss of my 10 years no claims and having to pay my excess for this non fault accident. Beware of what you see at face value, if it seems to good to be true it usually is. Reviewed on: 31st August 2016

ripped of by big brand name marks and specer

1
hi i had two months insurance left on my 2004 saab 2.3 turbo car. i changed my car to a small 1997 fiat 900 cc car and asked them to change insurance over for the last two months and they said i couldn't and i would have to have a full 12 months cover. my saab was £630.00 for the year so they gave me a best quote of £1000.00 for a 900 cc car. i couldn't believe it, so i told them that i didn't want it so they are charging me £20.00 admin charge and £50.00 cancellation fee. they should be ashamed of themselves because i didn't want to cancel my policy but they didn't let me put new car on for the rest of my policy, they were just trying to get more money out me. there has been big articles in the papers recently about car insurance companies ripping people off and this a prime example of that. i then went on line and got the same cover for my 900 cc car for £185.00. what would you do £1000.00 or £185.00. i never thought that a company like marks and spencer would stoop as low as some of the companies that are giving insurance companies such a bad reputation but they have. when i phone them back to discuss it they didn't want to know they just passed me to debt collection company and now i will have to go to court. every other insurance company in the past if you changed your car they just swapped it over on your insurance no problem and you paid the difference more or less depending on what car you had. don't go near this company marks and spencer they are just thieving parasites.
