Superb customer service second to none. I transferred to this bank over 2 years ago and would recommend it to all my friends and colleagues. I have received first rate customer service from them since day one. I love the fact that I can speak to someone in this country who understands how banking works. And also that I don't have to go through 6 or 7 menus on the telephone to speak to a person.

Very good customer service

First Direct has a contact centre, based in the UK, that is open 24 hours a day, so you can ring and talk someone at any time. If you have an overdraft, the first £250 is interest free which is very helpful, and unlike most other UK bank accounts.

Online Only Baloney

As the first on line only bank, First Direct is remarkably boring and looks and feels like a traditional bricks and mortar bank. Limited functionality, poor, poor app experience, nonsense and overly complex 'security' processes...moving to Starling Bank.

Day to say banking with first direct is great, the app and website are easy to use, staff on the phones are well trained. Unlike many of the new challenger banks, first direct offer a full range of products. They might have some catching up to do on the digital side, but they keep launching new updates, when it comes to service the others are nowhere near.

Simply the best

First rate experience and been with them for over a decade. Wouldn't even be tempted to swap banks. 1st class online banking with customer service second to none.. Can't fault this bank - no wonder it comes top in all the ratings...

Switch New Account

Fantastic customer service available on telephone. Online banking set up extremely secure more so than High Street banks. Lots of financial products for 1st Account customers well explained by customer services assistant. I have switched from Halifax...

Fantastic customer service available on telephone. Online banking set up extremely secure more so than High Street banks. Lots of financial products for 1st Account customers well explained by customer services assistant. I have switched from Halifax due to the increase in overdraft charges of 1p for every £6 per day from Jan 2019. First Direct overdraft is free up to £250. Will probably look at mortgage switch too.

Their web site is very rarely inaccessible, and their call centre is superb - in all these years, only once have I been on hold before my call was answered. What is more, their staff know what they are talking about, rather than recite answers from a pre-defined list of queries.

I switched from natwest, and first direct’s app blows natwest’s out of the water so I don’t know why natwest keeps winning best app. Also amazing customer service, so so easy to get friendly human help. Genuinely never been so impressed by customer service but it is what first direct are known for, as well as fantastic savings rates and products.
