I opened my Nationwide account six months ago opting for the Flex account basic. I find this no frills account is best for me, not least because there are no fees for a returned direct debit or if you go overdrawn, but also because, having had an account with a monthly fee previously, I didn't use or need any of the extras they came with.

I used to bank with Lloyds and I absolutely hated going into my bank, in fact I dreaded it. I hated the ridiculous fees that were applied to my account when I went overdrawn and I hated the fees on the planned overdraft facility. Since I switched to Nationwide 2 years ago, everything is just so simple, their customer service is always excellent and in fact I actually like going into any of the branches as I know I will always be greeted with a smile and nothing is too much trouble for them. Nationwide have never applied any fees to my account and switching was the best thing I did. I would recommend Nationwide a million times over, I am a very happy customer.

good communication, poor interest

I had a complaint with nationwide after having a charge for a transaction that wasn't completed. Ended up getting £25 compensation which was great. However, the card gives poor interest rates

no problems but mobile banking looks technical

I have had the nationwide current account for about a year and have no problems with it so far. My only problem with it is that my mobile app for banking looks very complicated compared to my other bank.

Just brilliant!

Just brilliant! I`v used the Nationwide cashcard when travelling abroad. As far as I know its the only card that doesnt charge you for using a cash machine when you`re abroad. So convenient for day to day use abroad and with NO CHARGE!!

I visited the Wolverhampton branch on my lunch break to get a new 0% credit card.
I had a lovely chat with the assistant but he still processed my application quickly and effivpciently who's plat thoroughly checking that I understood what I was getting.
