Home Insurance claim for flood.

Home Insurance claim for flood. Had to be relocated and their offers of how much to give for alternative accommodation are a joke. Despite sending them proof and 3-4 properties in the area higher than their offer they refuse to give more funding. Our home was unhabitable and we are covered for accommodation but they refuse to go into the budget more. They are a joke and want you to be in the cheapest house possible even if its dirty and infested. Stay clear of claiming with these as you will lose the will to live. Reviewed on: 27th May 2026

Bunch of scammers

Tried to claim for a leak in the upstairs bathroom which had gone through the ceiling in the kitchen they told me over the phone what they would not pay for basically they didn't want to pay out then they mentioned the very outrageous excess charges £700 pound in the end I gave up I will not use them again Reviewed on: 15th February 2026

Declined Claim & Excess

Had an issue with my drains and was forced by Hastings to pay my £350 excess to DASA who would investigate. As they took my excess I assumed this was part of the final settlement to fix the issue. But no this is just spent on the investigation that took minutes. DASA said that the drain had not been maintained and Hastings Direct have declined the claim as a result. If I had been told that I would be paying £350 just for the investigation I would not have made the claim in the first place. Reviewed on: 14th January 2026

Changed house insurance provider this year and saved £50 for similar cover by getting Hastings Essential house and contents cover on-line. Only had it for a month or so therefore too early to tell about service, if required, but price was very competative. Reviewed on: 5th September 2025
