Review of the RIAS, Home Insurance:

My late mother was with RIAS for years , prob 15-20.

My late mother was with RIAS for years , prob 15-20. House and contents insurance . I lived with her laterally and was her POA until her death 2y ago . I now live in the family home myself , have the title deeds etc but RIAS have doubled the monthly direct debit just as I have changed the policy to my name …same house. Phoned them today and was advised I have to go on to website and take out a new policy when it expires next month as they cannot now do this over the phone - going abroad on holiday in 3 days time plus work full time so haven’t got time to shop around but also want to ensure house is fully insured etc . Policy expires 1st Nov - I’ll be home a few days before that but then they say they need 7 days notice to set up new policy in my name …ie in 3 days time ! Told me to go to website and find something that matches existing policy we have had for many years …This seems an awful way to treat loyal customers ! I’m going elsewhere …shocking service I’m afraid Reviewed on: 12th October 2026
