Review of the Lloyds Bank, Club Lloyds Current Account:

I have been a customer for 20 years or more.

I have been a customer for 20 years or more. The branch service has got notably worse in the last couple of years - long queues with few counter staff. The e-mails this month have offered me a loan despite always keeping £1k in my current account; and an expensive credit card when I already have a cashback credit card from another supplier which I clear in full every month. If they are using A.I. then it has to be the worst example ever. Reviewed on: 16th April 2026

There isn't much choice in current accounts.

2
There isn't much choice in current accounts. I am still with Lloyds but it is just a case of the best of a bad bunch. Yes they do the basics quite well but if you want branch service take a chair and flask of tea with you because you could be queuing for quite a time. The Club Regular Saver is amongst the market leaders but Lloyds do not make it easy for customers and the rigmarole of closing and opening the account every 12 months gets tedious after you have done it several times. The tedious check that I am making a genuine payment...

3
The tedious check that I am making a genuine payment gets ridiculous. The "I" in A.I. seems to stand for "Ignorance" rather than "Intelligence" especially when Lloyds thinks it could be suspicious/dangerous for me to transfer money from my Lloyds Current Account to my Lloyds Savings Account; or indeed businesses that I have paid regularly for years.. As for branch service - a recent re-fit removed the clock and provided four teller stations. I always expect a queue and I borrow a chair or ask another customer to hold my place as there are normally only two stations manned, one of which has a non-customer with a complicated query that takes at least 30 minutes (which I guess is why the clock was removed!) The Club Regular Saver is a nuisance...

3
In particular, the Club Regular Saver is a nuisance BOTH for Lloyds Bank and me as a customer. I like the interest rate. I understand transferring the balance every 12 months. But why is it necessary to close the account every year? I have just received through the post four sheets of paper. telling me something I already knew - that the account will terminate in 14 days - and there will be more to follow. I will open another Regular Saver and receive even more bumph. After 10 years of shutting and then opening accounts, I have to conclude what a ridiculous waste of time and money this is. AI is all the rage, it is about time Lloyds Bank learned how to use it properly! Reviewed on: 26th February 2025

Reliability, Honesty, and Simplicity

It is a pleasure to use their website. logging in is straight-forward and the level of security is perfectly adequate. Communications are simple and instant access is exactly that. Deposit interest is highly competitive. Reviewed on: 9th March 2022
