Mis-sold and underpaid for a claim

I was mis-sold the insurance and asked for my gross income, when it came to claiming they informed me they would only pay my taxable... I was mis-sold the insurance and asked for my gross income, when it came to claiming they informed me they would only pay my taxable income, which meant they only payed me half the amount they initially promised based on my earnings.
