Each year the Insurance Choice Awards set out on a quest to find the UK’s best insurance providers, brokers and partners. And last night, Smart Money People announced its 2019 winners in London.
Based on the feedback of over 26,000 customers, it’s fair to say that the 2019 voting period delivered a few surprises, with a wide cross section of insurance firms competing to be crowned a customer favourite, from household names through to start-ups launched in the last few years.

And so, without any further ado, here are our 2019 winners:

4. Treating Customers Fairly Champion: Caravan Guard
5. Customer Service Champion: Collingwood Insurance Services
6. Best Specialist Insurance Provider: Event Insurance Services
7. Best Travel Insurance Provider: CoverForYou
8. Best Pet Insurance Provider: Purely Pets
9. Best Home Insurance Provider: Admiral
10. Best Car Insurance Provider: By Miles
11. Best Motorhome Insurance Provider: The Caravan & Motorhome Club
12. Best Wedding Insurance Provider: Wedinsure
13. Best Student Insurance Provider: Endsleigh
14. Best Landlord Insurance Provider: Hamilton Fraser Total Landlord Insurance
15. Best Caravan Cover Provider: The Caravan & Motorhome Club
16. Best Cycle Insurance Provider: Laka
17. Premium Finance Partner of the Year: Premium Credit
18. Consultancy of the Year: Ninety Consulting
19. Technology Partner of the Year: Shepherd
20. Best Insurance App: By Miles
21. Best Newcomer: Digital Risks
22. Best Personal Insurance Broker (sponsored by Close Brothers Premium Finance): Sure Thing!
23. Best Protection Insurance Broker: Protect Line
This year, the voting was particularly close in a number of categories, and therefore a number of highly commended awards were also announced on the night.
Highly Commended:
1. Best Specialist Insurance Provider: Collingwood Insurance Services & Gunplan
2. Best Travel Insurance Provider: InsureandGo
3. Best Home Insurance Provider: Policy Expert
4. Technology Partner of the Year: VTX Partners
The big winners of the night were Admiral, By Miles, Sure Thing! and The Caravan & Motorhome Club, with each of these firms taking home two awards.
Other winners included defending champions like Endsleigh, who retained ‘Best Student Insurance Provider’ for a second year, Laka, who retained ‘Best Cycle Insurance Provider’ for another year, while Hamilton Fraser Total Landlord Insurance held on to ‘Best Landlord Insurance Provider’ for a third year.
Michael Fotis, the Founder of Smart Money People said, “The voting process has once again demonstrated that many insurance firms have made the jump from viewing their customers simply as policy numbers. It’s also particularly pleasing to see that innovative new propositions are starting to filter through and delight customers, with firms like By Miles, Laka, Digital Risks and FloodFlash representing this new wave of insurance firms.”
The awards ceremony featured live musicians and a stunning aerial performance, helping to make the Insurance Choice Awards 2019 a hit with attendees. The comedian Lucy Porter assumed the role of host and delivered a laugh out loud comedy set before revealing the winners.
