Read my cautionary tale....

I have been with many pets for over 5 years now but sadly I cannot recommend them. If you take out pet insurance as peace of mind for unexpected big vet bills then PLEASE do not trust them with this as it will leave you considerably out of pocket but will also cause undue stress, worry and anxiety. We have always paid our day to day vet bills out of our own pocket and kept our pet insurance purely for big unexpected bills. What follows below is our very stressful and still unresolved claim process so you can make up your own mind if it is worth the stress and hassle. This is our first and only claim ever submitted. On the 22nd of January 24 our cat unexpected became seriously ill and we took her to our closest out of hours cat hospital (not our normal vets). We were told she is seriously ill and her survival rate is very low as she was poisoned (might have ate or drank something unintentionally) . Miraculously she eventually pulled through but we were left with a bill of £1983. Just the kind of thing you take out pet insurance for. This is our claim process; 29/01: Submit claim to manypet and they confirmed receipt 08/03: Received an email from handler asking for our normal vets contact details for obtaining her 2 medical history. I provide the requested contact details and medical history. 11/03: Got email stating working on claim 09/04: After no update I emailed and ask for update on the claim. I got a reply to state that my cat breed does not match to breed listed by the out of hours vet (who just assumed breed) and claim is rejected. I sent an email addressing the discrepancy (providing proof) and ask how to proceed. 15/04: I follow up on my email of 09/04 – no reply 29/04: I follow up again – no reply 10/05: I follow up – no reply 15/05: I follow up- no reply 20/05: After no reply I resubmit the claim for £1983 adding all details regarding breed discrepancy, 2 year medical history and correspondence from previous claim. 29/05: Got confirmation email that they are working on claim 03/06: Got confirmation email that they are working on claim and all documents received. 05/06; I noticed they adjusted the claim amount to £1483 by not noting the vary obvious 1st entry on the invoice of my £500 deposit paid to vet. I emailed them to rectify – no reply 13/06: Followed up on my email about wrong claim amount – no reply 17/06: Received email to say I can check update on my claim online on their portal but no change. 01/07: Received email to say they are working on my claim 08/08: Asked for update – no reply and claim amount still wrong 14/08: Claim still with claim handler for wrong amount So as you can see it has now been nearly 7 months for what should be an easy claim to process as this is not related to any pre-existing conditions (not that my cat has any) I’m so disappointed with the way I have been treated. I have tried to ring them but abandoned numerous times after being 12, 14, 9th in the queue after 45 minutes. Manypets you should do better! Reviewed on: 14th August 2024
