Unhelpful bureaucracy

I wanted to take money out of my easy access isa and put the same amount back in - later in this tax year. The isa legislation allows this but you do not. I am transferring my account to Nationwide who do allow this. I was also not impressed by having to close my previous account and open a new one to get decent rates Reviewed on: 5th September 2024

I am sorry to hear that you have not been satisfied with your recent interaction with Harpenden Building Society. You are absolutely right, the ISA legislation does allow for funds to be removed and paid back within the same tax year. This would be a flexible ISA, which at the moment is not a product we have available. Existing members are signposted to review their accounts to ensure that they still suit their needs. We have made improvements to the process for existing members to open new accounts both though the online portal and in branch. We have and will continue to monitor closed accounts to ensure that these provide our members with fair value.
