Can speak to local customer service!

I would recommend the building society except it doesn’t take new savers. when l called and spoke to a customer service adviser, he was excellent. Reviewed on: 11th February 2026

I'm pleased to hear that you were able to speak with our customer service team and that your experience with the adviser was excellent! With regard to your point about us not taking on new savers, some of our accounts are indeed only available to customers who have saved with us for at least 12 months, or to those who live, work, or study in the BA1 or BA2 areas. We regularly review these requirements to ensure we are offering the best possible options to potential new customers. We do, however, have a range of accounts that are available to customers who live outside of Bath or who do not already save with us. Keeping account open as I’ve had it for ages

Whilst it was local when l opened my account, the nearest building society is now approx 10 miles away. I had issues registering on line and when asked for help, l received a rather terse / short reply! I wanted to open an account for my god daughter and was told that’s not possible as she is not related. Their interest rate is nothing to shout about either. So really, I’ve kept the account going simply because I’ve been with them for ages Reviewed on: 15th September 2024
