Absolute nightmare

Leek were the main reason why it took so long for me to complete on my purchase. They were uncooperative and would dig their heels in. They refused to lend on my first purchase because they deemed the property unsellable, meaning I had to pull out after 3 months work. Then on my second purchase they were unhappy about a lack of mortgagee protection clause and demanded the lease be varied, even though it could have been covered with an indemnity insurance policy. Varying the lease took 2 months to do even though everything else was ready to go. Overall they made the entire process a nightmare and I am very unhappy with how it was all handled. In the end it took almost 6 months to complete on what would otherwise be a simple purchase and this was down to Leek and their uncooperativeness. I would have gone with another lender but I was so far down the line when they dug their heels in that it would have taken too much time to get another offer sorted. Do better. All of the mortgage applications that we receive are assessed on an individual basis against our lending criteria and there will be occasions where a property that an applicant is looking to purchase is not acceptable to us (which could be for a number of different reasons). Equally, it’s sometimes the case that the terms of an existing lease fall outside of our standard requirements and it’s not uncommon for us to request amendments before we’re able to proceed to completion. We have, however, passed your feedback about this onto our Mortgage Team and they’ll take this into account when considering any future changes to our lending requirements and criteria.
