Review of the Saffron Building Society, Savings:
View on product page

Unresponsive service.

My wife died in May. Most of our savings were in two ISAs with the Newbury Building Society. When she died, her balance was transferred to my account. Because the total then went over the guarantee limit, I decided to transfer part to a smaller ISA I have with the Saffron. On 21st August I gave 90 days notice to the Newbury and on 22nd wrote to the Saffron enclosing a completed ISA transfer authority form. Because the notice period was due to expire, last week I called in to the Newbury to check that the transfer would proceed as requested. I was told they had not been contacted by you so telephoned the Saffron while I sat in the Newbury office. I was told by the person who answered my call that someone had telephoned me on 28th August to tell me that what I had asked was not possible as my Saffron ISA was a fixed term one, but that the call "dod not connect" for some reason. After that, no other attempt was made and nobody told me there was a problem despite the Saffron having both my postal and e-mail addresses. I have since moved the required amount to a more responsive society. Reviewed on: 21st November 2024
