Chip: Great Rates

5
I’ve been using Chip for a while now, and overall, it’s a crackin’ app for savin’. The 5% AER Limited Access account is ideal if you’re putting money away for a specific goal, as it offers a high interest rate but limits you to three withdrawals a year, which helps you stay disciplined. For more flexible saving, the 4.01% Instant Access account is spot on—it still offers a competitive rate but lets you dip in and out whenever you need, which is perfect for more short-term or emergency savings. The app itself is dead easy to use, with a clean, straightforward layout. It links seamlessly with major UK banks like Barclays, Halifax, and Monzo, making it simple to move money in and out. I also like the auto-saving feature, which either rounds up your spending or stashes a bit away based on your spending habits—it’s a canny way to grow your savings gradually without noticing too much. Security-wise, I feel confident using it, as Chip is partnered with ClearBank, meaning deposits are FSCS protected up to £85,000. It’s reassuring to know that your money is covered, giving it the same level of protection as a traditional bank. The only downside I’ve found is customer service. While the app runs smoothly, if you ever need support, it can be a bit slow to get hold of a human, and the chatbot isn’t much use for anything beyond basic queries. When you do get through, the staff are helpful enough, but the response times could definitely be quicker. Overall, I’d say Chip is a brilliant option for savers looking for high interest rates with minimal effort. It’s great for building a savings pot gradually and offers proper protection for your money. The app’s easy to use, and the interest rates are some of the best you’ll find right now, making it a solid choice—just be prepared for slightly slow customer service if you need help.
