Approved, hard search done, then declined

I successfully completed all initial application stages, during which I was clearly informed that I was eligible for the loan. Based on this information, a hard search was carried out on my credit file. After the hard search, I received further confirmation that everything was approved and that I qualified for the loan. The following day, I received an email from a member of your underwriting or review team requesting a payslip to verify my income. I provided the payslip as requested, which fully confirmed my employment and income and, in fact, showed a higher average income than I had initially declared. Despite this, I later received a response informing me that my application had been declined. I find this outcome disappointing, especially given that I was repeatedly assured at multiple stages that my application was successful and after a hard credit check had already been performed. This has had a negative impact on my credit record and has wasted my time based on information that ultimately proved to be incorrect. Reviewed on: 21st January 2026
