When my husband passed away unexpectedly I got in touch with StepChange because I didn’t know how I was going to sort out my finances. I couldn’t see a way of paying off all the debt we had. They took time to go over everything and worked out the best possible solution for myself. It’s like a weight is lifted off my shoulders. Now I sleep easier knowing that debt collectors will not be at my door. Reviewed on: 27th May 2026

We wasn’t in a very good position with our finances...

We wasn’t in a very good position with our finances when my husband had to finish work on ill health. We didn’t know what to do, we got in touch with our creditors but because we hadn’t got behind with our payments they weren’t very helpful. We phoned stepchange and from that day we felt that a weight had been lifted. They contacted all our creditors and arranged a token payment. We are still in debt but able to live more comfortably, thanks to Stepchange Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025
