Everybody I spoke to was lovely, other than the final woman who sent my DRO off. Not only was she condescending, she shouted loudly when she found something ridiculous, with no effort to query the amount first, she just jumped to conclusions and passed judgement that would leave anyone feeling embarrassed and ashamed. It seems to me that she feels she can treat anyone in debt however she wishes because of the job she does, but it just came across like she didn’t know how to manage her own feelings and remain professional, and that she’s likely been a bit of a bully for a long while. She also refused to put my room mate down as a dependent despite the fact that without me- she wouldn’t eat, and she is heavily disabled, therefore cannot work- but I suppose that doesn’t matter to her because she just refused to write it down claiming she didn’t rely on me and asked no further questions. This also led to her saying she had to put me and my room mate as sharing responsibility 50/50, which isn’t the case when I pay for food, the electric and gas are under my name and she’s never made a payment & she pays £10 towards water and nothing else towards Council Tax. There was also a distinct lack of understanding about how self employment works, she didn’t understand that multiple sources of income didn’t mean multiple sets of self employment, perhaps some training on this would be beneficial. Her tone and attitude were awful, and I suggest she reserves her judgement and remembers that anyone can be in this position, she could be too, and she gains from people like me struggling, that’s how she pays her bills, so perhaps be kinder to the people who provide her employer with money to pay her salary.
