We had an accident in France with our caravan toward...

We had an accident in France with our caravan towards the end of August 2023 resulting in total loss. We did not realise that the claim was dependent on the lowest offer from a selection of dealers. This took many weeks and resulted in being offered a caravan in Kent to a basic specification for our Bailey, not a fully specified one as ours was a dealer special. Kent! We live in Lincolnshire. Warranty work in the caravan industry relies on returning the caravan to the supplying dealer. This offer was completely impractical. Further negotiation with Ashwick, the claims handlers for Devitt, showing the cost of the extras fitted to our dealer special resulted in the offer of a cash settlement which we readily accepted as we preferred in any case to have a different model of caravan, not wishing to be reminded of the accident. We finally got a cheque at the beginning of December, a distressing 3 months after the loss of the caravan. Our car was also a total loss. We had Quote Me Happy for the car. Thanks to a few photos I took and an online report, they settled, with a sum greater than I expected, straight into my bank account within the week and before I had even returned home.
