2024 I changed insurance company to the motorhome & caravan club. Assistance was brilliant. I got a comparible quote with better incentives, and therefore changed. 5 weeks before renewal whilst travelling between sites my motorhome suffered a tyre blowout. No 3rd party involved but £7k of damage caused to the wheel arch lining and flooring. Naturally I informed the claims department and 5 weeks later my first renewal came through. Despite Full No claims, Protected etc etc, My premium has almost Quadrupled. £588 - £2,218. Classed as a Fault claim. How can that be? No one knows when a tyre is going to blow! (I religously check all tyre pressures before driving). I appreciate The Motorhome & Caravan club work alongside their insurers but hey; that is some increase that I did not bargain for. It goes without saying that having submitted a claim there is going to be an increase in premuim, but no where near that amount. So unfair; it's certainly took the shine off motorhoming. (I ask one question, Had it been a windscreen chip / crack you pay a contribution and thats that. It doesn't effect your renewal. Why is not the same for a tyre blowout? No one knows when that's going to happen either) Reviewed on: 9th July 2025
