All feels like a money machine

4
The internet questionnaire is the same as any other provider. In our case we had to contact all clear to add migraine to my wife’s declared conditions which added an additional £30 to our annual insurance which we were content with. However, the gentleman on the phone decided to go through all conditions which we had declared only a couple of days ago on internet. He then enquired about my health which my wife stated that he is healthy apart from a sprain in his thumb from when he slipped walking the dog. The man then wanted to talk about my sprained thumb which the consultant had said was nothing serious healing well signed me off and said as it takes a few months to heal and said just check all well in 8 weeks. For this the insurance company asked for an additional £130 to the policy and stated I need to declare this in the future for 2 years. This is a sprained thumb, not broken, no long term effects on my health yet these insurance companies won’t to find anything they can to add additional costs to your policy. When I go away on holiday I won’t to feel reassured that I am covered, however I am concerned that if I get a cold and go to doctors that they will use this to state that it wasn’t declared. It all feels like a rip off to get more money out of customers Reviewed on: 10th October 2025
