John Lewis sadly no longer the company they were

John Lewis are sadly no longer the company they used to be. After a major order went wrong due to misleading information on their website, and many hours of my time wasted, I escalated the issue all the way to the CEO office. Senior staff agreed with every fact I presented — yet still offered no meaningful customer service or resolution. Their idea of a “gesture”? If I drove an hour to my nearest store, they would give me a cup of tea and a slice of cake. I found this genuinely insulting and completely inappropriate given the situation. My wife and I had even asked for John Lewis vouchers for our wedding because we trusted the brand. Now we want nothing to do with them. It’s astonishing that Amazon outperforms them on every level, especially customer care — something John Lewis was once famous for. They’re finished for me, and I’ll share this experience with friends and family. If this is how they operate now, I wouldn’t be surprised if the company itself is finished in the future. I strongly recommend avoiding them — there is simply no longer any reason to shop with John Lewis. Reviewed on: 17th November 2025
