Have decided not to renew due to increased cost and compulsory excess

We had Admiral buildings and contents insurance for a year without making any claim. When considering renewal, we were told that the cost would increase by about 30% and that the compulsory excess for any damage caused by escape of water or flood had been increased from £350 to £500 (in addition to voluntary excess.) Following discussion, the proposed increase in cost could be reduced to about 15%. However, we were not willing to accept the prospect of paying £500 compulsory excess in case we should ever have water damage, so have arranged insurance with another company.
