Nice to speak to a person who understand

Having ignored my Nationwide Debit & Credit Card Accounts for a few years I needed to call up and either cancel or reactivate them. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself talking to a UK based call centre who understood everything I wanted to do, made it happen simply and effectively without trying to sell me other products that I didn't want at the same time. On getting married and changing my surname my assumption had been that my bank would be one of the easier things to change; go in with copy of marriage certificate, sign something, they then change my name in a box on their system...simples, or not as it turned out. I couldn't just go in, I needed an appointment, and the first one of those they had was for two weeks later in the middle of a working day, if I had wanted something outside working hours I think it would have taken until my first wedding anniversary to get it changed! Went I finally got to go for my appointment, it was fairly painless, although they had booked me in with someone who couldn't actually complete the process and had to get others for help.
