Charge to change - charge to leave - policy not even started

Took out a policy for a car yesterday evening - to start in 3 weeks. Need to change number plate as registering personal plate. Called company and told £25 for changes mid term. Pointed out that the policy hasn't started yet so it is not mid term. Told tough. Asked to cancel. £45 charge to cancel - again policy has not started. Total rip off company. Avoid like the plague.
