Banking you can actually feel good about

I switched to Triodos at least ten years ago and haven't looked back. The big draw is transparency, they publish every organisation they lend to, so you can actually see your money supporting renewable energy, social enterprises, and affordable housing rather than quietly funding things you'd rather not think about. Day-to-day banking works fine. The app is clean, transfers are straightforward, contactless and Google/Apple Pay all do what they should. Customer service is human and helpful, which counts for a lot. It's not perfect. There's a £3 monthly fee, no overdraft, and the app lacks some of the bells and whistles you get with Monzo or Starling. But I'm not here for cashback rewards I'm here because I work in social care and it matters to me where my money goes overnight. For that, Triodos is hard to beat. Reviewed on: 21st April 2026
