Review of the Vanquis, Credit builder credit card:

Overly cautious approach to credit limits.

3
It took a ridiculously long time before any increase in credit limit was offered. I have several other cards which had limits that had increased to £6.5K, £2.5K etc but still I seemed to be stuck on £300 with Vanquis. Eventually it moved up to £800 but on a recent attempt to move it up further (after I was invited to apply for the increase) they demanded that I produce wage slips to prove my income. I draw the line at that as I’m not applying for a mortgage, merely a small increase to £1400. I have therefore left my credit limit where it is and will merely use other cards and use Vanquis sparingly for cheap items. My payment history is perfect with this card, indeed I’ve never even paid a penny in interest so I don’t appreciate having to upload documents for such a minor thing. No other card issuers that I use have asked for this, perhaps reflecting that Vanquis is really just a card for people with very poor credit history. Reviewed on: 17th April 2025

Outstanding Insurer

Trouble free insurer and although I haven't had occasion to claim, I expect that it will be a hassle free service if I ever do. Reviewed on: 21st August 2019
