What you need, when you need it. No fuss.

PayPal is so easy to use, and it gives you access to what you need when you need it most. Financial support aside, the app and services provided are so simple to use, and often incentivised by online retailers, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend everyone to setup a free PayPal account. If you just want PayPal as an intermediary for your actual cash, you can set that up easily, but pay in 3 and credit options just give you more flexibility - and you can even get a virtual card to use in stores (via your device's virtual wallet). If you keep yourself disciplined, pay what you owe and keep on top of your spending, there is no negative here. Obviously, as a long-term credit option, this isn't really the best available, but for spreading payments, protecting your account and using credit responsibly (whilst improving your credit score), it's a no-brainer. Lifesaving in an instant

PayPal has saved me financially when I was having a hard time and my lifelong bank let me down. Payment options are varied, incentivised, and most importantly keep your actual account details hidden. Credit is easy, released in a sensible manner and allows you to improve your credit worthiness and credit score if you behave responsibly. Quite simply, PayPal gives me time and options which a lot of other services lack, and it's accepted, if not incentivised everywhere. The absolute peak, when you qualify, is the ability to use the virtual card in-store like any other, but still backed by the flexibility to choose how you actually pay. Honestly, this has been a revelation to me and PayPal shows the big banks how they should treat their customers. Reviewed on: 6th June 2026
