I thought Nucleus was different .

I thought Nucleus was different . . . We had been making repayments on our loan, without issue, then on one of the months, they attempted to take payment and were unsuccessful. There was more than sufficient balance to cover the payment, so it wasn't clear why the payment failed. They then notified me to make a manual payment (fair enough, which I did within 24hrs of the original payment failing) but then advised I would have to pay a £250 late payment charge (despite not being able to offer a clear reason for the initial payment failing OR acknowledging that the repayment was made manually within 24hrs thereafter). I put these points to them, but then they shove the terms in my face, stating that they can charge the late payment fee regardless of the circumstance. Note, the late payment fee reflected 25% of the actual repayment amount - a ridiculously excessive sum. They purport to be different to other lenders, but they are just the same - leeches, seeking any opportunity to charge more to their clients, even when it is unjust to do so. AVOID THEM IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR BUSINESS FINANCE - they are unreasonable and will cost you a lot more than what you expect from the outline agreement. Reviewed on: 28th July 2026
