Review of the Autonet Insurance, Van Insurance:

Disproportionate charges

I took out a comprehensive van insurance policy with Autonet 16 days ago for an annual premium of £370. Shortly afterwards, the van was found to be beyond repair and the garage replaced it with a like-for-like vehicle. When I contacted Autonet to update the policy with the new van's details, I was told it would cost £179 to make the change—more than half the annual premium. I considered this excessive and asked to cancel the policy instead, only to be told that cancellation would also cost £179. After I challenged the charge and the matter was referred to a supervisor, Autonet agreed to reduce the fee by £100 as a goodwill gesture, leaving a charge of £79. I found the whole experience extremely disappointing. The charges quoted appeared wholly disproportionate, particularly given that I was simply replacing the insured vehicle with a like-for-like van only 16 days into the policy. Rather than trying to help resolve the situation fairly, I felt I was met with unreasonable fees and had to challenge the decision before any flexibility was shown. This experience has left me with little confidence in Autonet's customer service or its commitment to treating customers fairly. Reviewed on: 2nd August 2026
