Absolutely awful experience!

Absolutely awful experience! I took out car insurance on the 25th September the policy was due to start on the 23rd October. I then found out the cover was not what I expected and decided to cancel. According to the information they sent me with their confirmation it quite firmly stated that there would no (as in zero) cancellation fee if the policy hadn’t started and it was within the 14 day cooling off period. In my situation both criteria are applicable! However they have decided that I can’t cancel the policy till the 23 October, ie when it starts and that a cancellation fee of £20 would be applicable. I’ve spoken to them via text and by phone but to no avail! It’s like banging your head against a brick wall! So frustrating. Sorry for the rant but I just had to vent somewhere. Unfortunately it looks like it’s the insurance ombudsman for me! It’s not the money it’s the principle and the total injustice of this company’s actions!! Totally Despicable!!
