I would not trust Clearpay to protect you when a merchant fails to deliver My experience with Clearpay has completely destroyed my confidence in using them for purchases where there is any risk of a dispute. I paid £500 for a “done-for-you” digital product service with a clear list of promised deliverables. Only a fraction of what I paid for was delivered. The merchant subsequently acknowledged in writing that he “did not finish the full setup” and that he then “went quiet” after I provided the information he needed to continue. Despite Clearpay being provided with extensive evidence — including the merchant’s own written admission — my disputes have repeatedly been closed in the merchant’s favour and payments have continued to be taken. My biggest issue is not simply that I disagree with their decision. It is the way the evidence appears to have been handled. I have spent considerable time supplying correspondence, timelines, lists of missing deliverables and the merchant’s own admission that the service was not completed, yet I have repeatedly been left feeling that the substance of that evidence has not been properly addressed. I am now pursuing the matter outside Clearpay. My warning to other customers is simple: do not assume that paying through Clearpay means you are fully protected if a merchant fails to provide what you paid for. Based on my experience, I certainly would not rely on Clearpay to resolve a serious merchant dispute fairly. I will not use Clearpay again. Reviewed on: 6th October 2026
