Review of the Policy in Practice, Better Off Calculator:

Love it.

Love it. I used the calculator nearly everyday and it's been really helpful with helping client's budget better and assess their eligibility for benefits. My only issue with the tool is when it comes to doing the budget, it uses their potential income rather than their actual income, so it often looks like they have more money than they have, I understand it's to show them what their budget would look like if they applied for everything, but I think showing them what their budget looks like before the increase is more important as I can offer budgeting advice. Having both would make it easier to show client's how their income can affect their spending. Reviewed on: 7th October 2026
