I’m extremely disappointed with Waggel and have completely lost confidence in their cover. My dog Daisy has developed ongoing gastrointestinal problems, and her vet recommended an ultrasound to investigate the cause and rule out serious conditions. Waggel refused to cover the investigation because the symptoms *could* be related to her pre-existing skin allergies, despite the cause not being confirmed and Daisy having no history of gastrointestinal problems during the 6 years she has had allergies. Since then, Daisy has had two further episodes of vomiting blood, requiring emergency veterinary treatment and around £2,000 in additional costs. I’m still waiting for clarity on what will be covered, and her vet has recommended further investigations. I pay for lifetime cover specifically so I can get my dog the care she needs without worrying that claims will be rejected based on an unconfirmed connection. Instead, I’ve spent hours disputing decisions and gathering evidence while facing significant costs and uncertainty about Daisy’s health. This has been incredibly stressful, and I don’t feel reassured or protected by the policy I pay for. I’ve had to challenge Waggel over previous claims too, which only adds to my concerns. I’m now taking my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service because I believe the decision needs an independent review. Based on my experience so far, I would urge other pet owners to read the exclusions carefully and consider how the insurer might interpret them when a new condition develops. I expected much better from a lifetime policy. Do not use Waggel if you care for your pet. Reviewed on: 28th October 2026
