Review of the Blue Motor Finance, Car finance:

My experience was extremely poor

1
I bought a Ford S-Max on HP on 11 July 2026 and reported serious problems almost immediately. I exercised my short-term right to reject the vehicle within days of purchase. The car has now been sitting faulty and unused outside my home for months while I continue paying the finance simply to protect my credit record. Blue entered administration on 30 July and Hodge MF subsequently handled the account and complaint as servicer. Instead of resolving the situation, my rejection was refused largely because I supposedly “refused inspection”. That is not an accurate description of what happened. I repeatedly offered a local/independent inspection; what I objected to was the supplying dealer taking the vehicle away to Peterborough. I strongly recommend that anyone who has experienced difficulty dealing with Blue/Hodge submits a **Data Subject Access Request (DSAR)** and asks for their complete complaint notes, call records and internal case history. My own DSAR was extremely revealing. Among other things, internal records showed that an independent inspection had been considered and that I had been described as “difficult” while I was trying to arrange an alternative/local inspection. There were also internal records referring to there being sufficient evidence to determine liability, while the eventual Final Response said there was insufficient evidence. I have now been passed between Blue, Hodge MF, the administrators at EY and the Financial Ombudsman Service, with conflicting explanations about who is responsible. Meanwhile the faulty car remains outside my house and the monthly payments continue. I find it absurd and appalling that a consumer can end up in this position with seemingly nobody willing to take responsibility for actually resolving the underlying agreement. If other Blue Motor Finance customers have experienced similar problems, I would encourage you to obtain your DSAR and keep all correspondence. If enough affected customers compare their experiences and evidence, there may be a better chance of ensuring these practices receive proper scrutiny. I am still pursuing the matter through the available legal and regulatory channels. Reviewed on: 29th October 2026
