Triodos Bank an Unethical, Disgraceful Customer Ser...

1
# Triodos Bank – Unethical, Disgraceful Customer Service and a Complete Failure to Protect Customers I am absolutely appalled by my experience with Triodos Bank. For a bank that markets itself as ethical, responsible and committed to doing good, my experience has been the complete opposite. I have never experienced such a disgraceful level of banking service. Triodos has frozen my money, leaving me and my children without access to our own funds for an entire weekend. I have been unable to pay essential bills, meet financial commitments or access money for everyday necessities. My funds remain frozen, and the consequences are becoming increasingly serious. What is even more shocking is the attitude of their customer service team. I have experienced rude, dismissive and completely unsympathetic treatment. From my interactions, they appear to have little concern about whether their customers can pay their bills, feed their families or access their own money. There seems to be no genuine urgency, accountability or understanding of the financial hardship their actions are causing. This has gone beyond inconvenience. The inability to make payments has affected my credit reports and financial commitments, potentially causing lasting damage to my financial standing. And the problems do not stop there. I have also experienced difficulties carrying out some of the most basic banking functions, including setting up Direct Debits and making payments online and in stores. These are fundamental services that any functioning bank should be able to provide reliably. To make matters worse, Triodos charges customers £3 every month for an account that, in my experience, cannot even deliver basic banking services. During my dealings with the bank, I was also told that they operate using old, manual systems. This is deeply concerning for a financial institution entrusted with people's money. How can a bank charge customers for a service, acknowledge outdated manual processes and then leave families without access to their funds? I feel there is absolutely nothing ethical about leaving a parent and children without money, showing little compassion for their circumstances and failing to resolve the situation urgently. A bank's ethical credentials should be measured by how it treats real people, particularly when they are vulnerable, not by its marketing campaigns or the causes it claims to support. I would not trust Triodos with my money again. My experience has been one of poor service, unreliable banking facilities, rude customer support, financial distress and a complete loss of confidence. I personally would strongly warn others to think very carefully before trusting this bank with their money. Consider what would happen if your funds were suddenly frozen, your bills could not be paid, your card payments failed and you were left without access to money your family depends on. That is the reality I have experienced. Triodos may describe itself as an ethical bank, but in my experience, its treatment of customers has been anything but ethical. It is a disgrace. I expect my funds to be released immediately, a full explanation of what has happened, and accountability for the financial damage, distress and hardship this situation has caused. My personal advice: bank somewhere you can have confidence that your money will be accessible, your essential payments will work and your financial wellbeing will actually matter. An ethical reputation means nothing if the people trusting you with their money are treated this way. Reviewed on: 30th October 2026
