Review of the Tide, Business banking:

Funds blocked for over 3 weeks for no reason!

We have had a Tide business account for over 8 years - our business is a simple, solvent property letting company, registered on Companies House with full up-to-date accounting, legal and regulatory documentation. Tide blocked our account three weeks ago, with no explanation and no timeline to unblocking. Tide said this was a necessary review for regulatory or customer protection reasons. Even if that is the case and they are not mis-understanding or mis-applying the relevant guidelines, such a process should not take three weeks. After chasing several times, Tide informed us that they will be closing our account, without providing any reasons. We have not been able to access our account, nor make or receive payments, which is adversely affecting our business relationships and costing us money. After continuous chasing, we still do not have access to our funds after three weeks ! For reference, we have accounts with other banks for other businesses and have never encountered such a situation. Tide will likely reply to say "it is out of our hands and we are following the rules", but there is clearly a serious process failure which deserves to be called out. The point of this review is to inform current and prospective business users about the reality of banking with Tide, even for long-standing customers. We suggest you switch your bank in an orderly fashion now, before Tide forces you to do so under duress. Reviewed on: 6th November 2026
