I really felt like I was drowning in debt and no matter how much I paid off each month, the total never seemed to get smaller. I’d started to ignore phone calls and leave post unopened in case it was from one of my debtors. I just couldn’t cope with it and was starting to become really down and totally unlike myself. Having Stepchange take over correspondence with my debtors and talk me through a manageable budget lifted a huge weight from my shoulders and knowing when I would be debt free enabled me to look to the future again which I hadn’t dared for quite some time. I’m now less than a year away from being debt free and it’s an incredible feeling. I have recommended Stepchange to a lot of people who, through my job, I know are struggling with debt. I’d even go so far as to say that I am better at my job because of Stepchange. Having had the experience with them, I can wholly empathise with others in the same position that I found myself in.
