StepChange are truly amazing.

StepChange are truly wonderful. The people who help are incredibly helpful and friendly, and very knowledgeable. They are so reassuring when issues arise from creditors, and when you speak with them, you feel confident and reassured that things will be resolved. They give clients something very precious. Hope. Overwhelmed by debt? Make a change. With StepChange.

When I was at my lowest ebb, and struggling to cope after divorce, I honestly did not know where to turn. I was recommended to StepChange. They gave me advice, and help, but the fact that they did this with unlimited patience, understanding, and support. They also gave me the most precious thing of all. Hope. I have been using their services for a few years now, and am almost totally clear of debts. Absolutely amazing organisation, with the most amazing people! I made a big change with Step-Change

I once had a very good credit rating. My finances were all in order, and I had very little debt. Then came a very difficult divorce, and I found myself plummeting into deep debt and deeper despair. Things became very difficult and I didn't know what to do, or where to turn. I tried to struggle on, paying everything, but barely surviving. I hardly slept, I hardly ate. I was afraid to eat, to be honest, because money was so tight. This carried on for quite a few years until I'm ashamed to say I was almost at the point of 'giving up'. I just didn't see any way out of my predicament. It was only the love I have for my (adult) son that kept me going. And then, I found Step-Change. They gave me help and advice, which was priceless, but the most precious thing they gave me was hope. For the first time for many years, I had hope. The lady who helped me was incredibly kind, and very patient, listening to me, and explaining my choices, then detailing how to work out a payment plan that worked for me. (I could even afford food again!). She even filled out the forms online for me (I have eyesight issues). It will take a few years, but there IS an end planned to my debt. And I am happy that my debtors/debts are being paid. I have emailed Step-Change a few times with queries, and have always found them as helpful and as wonderful as that first time I contacted them. I have recommended them to others who are experiencing similar difficulties too. I also look forward to receiving their newsletters, which have helpful advice for different financial situations in which one may find oneself. Step-Change is a wonderful organisation, and I for one and very thankful, and grateful that I found them. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2021

A step in the right direction, a change for good!

Following a very difficult divorce, I found myself swapped by mounting debts, which I was struggling to pay alone, despite my best efforts. This went on for some time, until I found out about Step-Change. I logged onto their website, but was struggling due to serious eyesight issues. I telephoned them, expecting to be chastised for my situation. This did not happen! The wonderful lady to whom I spoke could not have been more helpful and reassuring. One of the many things which I greatly appreciated was that not only was this lady extremely knowledgeable, but she fully listened to my concerns, and then patiently explained everything, spending quite some time going through my different options. Because of my eyesight issues, the lady offered to complete the paperwork/computer forms on my behalf, which I gratefully accepted. When the lady had all the information she needed, she ensured that the budget and plan suggested was achievable for me. I have suffered from serious depression for decades, and my financial situation was slowly pulling me in a negative direction. But at the end of the session, after speaking with that lady, I felt something I had not felt for a very long time. Hope. That is an incredibly very precious thing to give to someone. I have had cause to contact Step-Change a few times with queries, and they are always wonderfully helpful, and happy to assist. I honestly believe that I would not be here now, if not for all the kindness, advice, and support they have given me. And I know I am just one of many, many people who feel the same.
