Now it’s got Apple Pay it’s perfect!

Now it’s got Apple Pay it’s perfect! It’s always been a great no-frills account, and in previous years I’ve marked it down for not supporting Apple/Google pay because that’s a highly convenient (and secure) way to make online payments. Whilst other banks may have interesting budgeting tools, or ways to split bills between friends with the same account (take a bow, Monzo) these are nice-to-haves. What matters is that the bank is open about how it’s using my money, that the payments are reliable and simple, that my card works every time I tap it (another improvement with the move to Visa this year). The charge is minimal for what we get - I don’t mind paying for separate gadget or travel insurance if I need it. Some users may be affected by the withdrawal of the overdraft facility this year, which was a bit of a surprise, but we have been able to compensate by moving a small amount of savings into the current account to give us the buffer we occasionally need at the end of the month. Ethical, easy to use and excellent service

For another year Triodos have continued to provide excellent banking services. In particular this year they’ve added Apple Pay to their offering which - on top of the improvements to the app and online banking - ticks all the boxes for my needs. Ethical, easy and excellent service. I haven’t needed to contact them this year (which is good service in itself) But when I have the service has been brilliant - quick to understand the issue and to rectify. Lovely friendly bank

Now they have sorted out their app, verification and online banking, everything is a breeze. Fantastic service whenever I’ve had to call. I don’t mind not having all the frills like holiday insurance - I never used it anyway. My only gripe is that they don’t support Apple Pay yet. Maybe next year? Reviewed on: 17th January 2023

Just what we needed

We have a nimbl account for our eldest. It provides the best balance between control and freedom - we can monitor spend and intervene if necessary, we can easily reward (and punish), and it teaches responsible saving. I don’t mind paying for this. Excellent all round Reviewed on: 19th January 2021
