Review of the Starling Bank, Current account:

Ethical, modern, technologically progressive

Switched over to Starling at the beginning of last year. Have found it to be reliable and for notifications, payments, refunds, etc to come through instantly. The advanced notification of incoming payments (salary) and outgoing debit orders, as well as information about which debit orders are registered on your account (the very moment they get linked to your account) is spectacular. It's also one of Ethical Consumer's highest-rated banks for ethics. Anne Boden and her team have done an incredible job with Starling and I look forward to seeing what more they do. A credit card facility and overdraft would be nice on Joint Accounts--for now it seems that Joint Accounts aren't treated as primary accounts for couples but rather as a separate account shared by couples. All the same, it's a fantastic bank and one I'm happy to have switched over to. Just wish we could switch our credit card over, too. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2021
