How does one judge an insurance company?

Car insurance is a legal necessity. The way I see it, there are only two real ways in which to evaluate any insurance company; 1. What is the cost of the premium? 2. How has the company dealt with my claim? 1 is easy to answer, their policies are relatively inexpensive. As the commodity is a necessity, the cheaper the better, or is it? 2 is much more complicated. Will the company pay out in the event of a claim? Will the company pay out the true value of a claim? What will be the customer experience in the event of an accident or theft? I have to have insurance so I want it to be only as expensive as it needs to be, which I doubt it ever is. Insurance is, after all, to do with risk management and maximising profits, not doing the right thing by those who have unfortunately come a cropper. It has, fortunately, been a long time since I have needed to call on an insurance company to do the right thing and I am not confident that any of them would. My opinions are borne of experience. Off to a good start

I wanted a cheap loan so that I could buy a car without dipping into my capital and that is exactly what I got. The rate was low, applying was a piece of cake and there has been no hassle whatsoever. If the future is as rosy as the past I will be a happy man. Reviewed on: 21st February 2021
